The software loads with Google Maps as the primary display. The big advantage with this is the ability to view satellite photos, maps or a satellite photo with map overlay. The Google Earth 3D satellite photo is still available with all its features.
Other reasons for changing to the new format:
(1) Google Earth® were upgrading on a regular basis, causing stability problems with the original version of the Country Airstrip Guide software.
(2) The latest version utilises Google® Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth 3D and Google Earth - you get the best of all worlds.
(3) The new version has colour coded airfield markers with the ability to switch the various colours on and off.
(4) To improve performance if your internet connection is slow, the new version has the ability to only load the state of your choice.
